Ometa was founded in 2001 on the University of Antwerp by Luc Deleu. The idea was to create new technology with a very clear defined vision: how should information be managed and structured to optimize businesses?
This by means of an Enterprise Content Management (ECM) solution. Through ECM you do
not only achieve a better service to the customer, but also better quality and greater reusability of data. The time to find information is limited and you share knowledge in a more efficient way.
Ometa also started to scout the market in search of a document management system (DMS) that could serve as portal technology. The choice was obvious, since Microsoft had just announced the purchase of a new system that would be added to the core Microsoft stack. Because the early focus on Microsoft SharePoint, Ometa was one of the first dedicated partners of Microsoft for this product, to use it as a tool to realize our ECM vision.
New colleagues were searched and quickly found to embark on the wonderful quest of creating and building our ultimate goal: generic technology to link back-office applications with portal technology.
The Ometa Integrator Framework was born and served the purpose of being a generic framework to make integration easy and efficient. Ometa makes complex integration an synchronization solutions configurable and within reach of any company. Today the possibilities of our Framework are capable of state of the art configuration:
Our ECM approach and long term vision of linking and integrating application data with document management features didn't remain unseen. Today Ometa has several high-end customers with international implementations.
These implementations give Ometa new insights and stimulate our motivation for innovation. Based on these insights and our urge for innovation we continuously develop our vision on the future of Enterprise Content Management. Today, Ometa owns its headquarters in Antwerp and internationally sells its technology using a partner network. The Ometa Framework was proven in multiple projects disclosing all major ERP and CRM systems towards portal technology. We have reference cases of bi-directional integration using SAP, Infor, Axapta, Movex, Baan, Navision,... towards several other systems.
